bobjones864 ::: Favorites 2008-01-05 18:05:17 What's most annoying about this is the repetition of the myth of Robert Johnson as a central figure to the blues. Robert Johnson didn't influence anybody much until he was rediscovered in the 1960's. He was actually just about the last important acoustic blues musician. He was pretty great, but he wasn't THE Delta bluesman. __________________________________________________
spring41686 ::: Favorites 2008-01-04 23:00:14 Hendrix played ALOT of guitar before he got any good, years and years of playing. Anyone who plays the guitar knows that there is no way someone can go from not being able to play the instrument to being a proficient player in 6-8 months it is impossible. __________________________________________________

wookiespal ::: Favorites 2007-12-02 03:27:19 Btw, in 1938 there was a western swing band by the name of Dave Edwards and his Alabamians called "Done sold my sold my soul to the devil". So that kind of stuff wasnt limited to just the blues. Cool song, check it out __________________________________________________
wookiespal ::: Favorites 2007-12-01 00:27:23 Back then folks said blues playing was the work of the devil. Other guys, such as Tommy Johnson, used to say that they too had sold their souls.Johnny Shines,Roberts playing partner, said it was false. He first picked up a guitar in 1932 and started playing with Johnson in 1935. Some people just learn quick! The story is nothing more than a marketing ploy. People love mystique. And over the years it has obviously worked. __________________________________________________
BluesdoCapeta ::: Favorites 2007-11-30 19:22:14 Of course there's no deal with the devil! Anyway, Robert Johnson is still "the man"! If wasn't he, thre would be no emo girls or even balck metal guys to dwell on an evil image. __________________________________________________
WolfHogan ::: Favorites 2007-11-28 05:41:12 I know many extremely talented cutting edge guitar players that are into jesus and other religions that are Amazing also. Stevie Ray Vaughn comes to mind.I believe This "selling your soul" is a mysterious folklore that is hyped up. Lets face it, Robert Johnson was just great! Why is it so hard for humans to understand that.We are all just energy particles of the earth and universe. Thats it! __________________________________________________

lordkoos ::: Favorites 2007-11-16 03:58:43 What is this bullshit... __________________________________________________
psychospeakempire ::: Favorites 2007-11-09 10:26:23 It's just a legend, a tall story. I don't think anyone with a sane mind really believes Johnson made a deal with the devil at the crossroads. It's just the stuff of good tall stories, it's cool, it's fun. Not to be taken too seriously. __________________________________________________ |
