Description:

In this video Thomas Richards' claim that the Bible teaches human free will is examined and refuted. It is also shown that the doctrine of free will is a Roman Catholic doctrine, not a Biblical one. The Bible teaches that God determines the will of man in all things.

Even the most evil murder of Jesus Christ was determined by God Almighty for the salvation of the elect. The Bible says, "For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou has anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles...for to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done" Acts 4:27-28.

Not even evil can escape the determination of God. The Bible says, "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things" Isaiah 45:7. "The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil" Proverbs 16:4.

God has determined who will hear the Gospel and who will not, who will believe and who will not. All things great and small have been determined by God. The end as well as the means. God is the ultimate cause of all things.

God also knows how each person will act and react when placed in any given situation. The Lord controls when a person is born, determines who his/her parents will be, what country a person will live in, how long a person will live, how rich and how poor a person will be, and so on.

God planned and created His creatures. Consider a typical human being. God planned and created the personality of the person. God determined what colors he/she would like, what foods would taste good or bad, sense of humor, level of intelligence, and so on.

The idea that the human will can be free from God is absurd. If anything created could become independent from God, then it would cease to exist. All created things constantly depend upon God for their existence (Hebrews 1:3 and Acts 17:28). The will of man is no exception. Therefore it can never be free from God.

The Bible teaches the Absolute Sovereignty of God. Because God is sovereign, He is the only being with a free will. Any religion which teaches that man has a free will is attempting to make man equal to God. Trying to be equal to God was the motivation which got Adam and Eve in trouble in the first place. It is the oldest mistake in the human race. The teaching of human free will is a heresy that all false religions share.
