Phone# (215)203-8008 On this date the Moors Honor the first generation of Moors who were stripped of their nationality and birthrights. It occurred October 14th 1774 in Philadelphia (the first capital of the U.S.A.). On this date we are led on a tour (Tour Guide: Bro. R.Hopkins-Bey) to the various historical sites where our nationality and birthrights were stripped. These sites include Carpenters Hall, the meeting place of the First Continental Congress, and Independence Hall, formerly The Pennsylvania State House. While visiting these sites we are given the history of how these landmarks relate to Moors. We also visit the Liberty Bell, and we are given the significance of the inscription on the Liberty Bell, which deals with Hebrew law on slavery and how slaves were treated (Inscription is from the chapter Leviticus of the Bible). Also October 14th 1928 Prophet Noble Drew Ali held a National Conclave. He had a meeting with most of all the Asiatic officials in Chicago in order to endorse Oscar Depriest, the first Asiatic elected into Congress in the 20th century. Some who were in attendance were Jesse Binga of Binga State Bank; Alderman Louis B. Anderson, who delivered the welcome address; Alderman Robert R. Jackson; Daniel Jackson committeeman of the second ward; representative George W. Blackwell; Oscar Depriest candidate for Congress; Richard Ross-Bey was the master of ceremonies. I was on the tour as a guest and recorded what I saw into a slide show for my girlfriend.
